Wiltshire is a large rural county with a number of attractive rural villages and market towns. Wiltshire Music Service is part of the Schools and Learning Directorate of the Department for Children and Education. It supplies instrumental/vocal tuition to schools across the county and runs a full range of out of school ensembles and choirs. The recent MSEP report described the service as ‘a well managed organisation that provides high quality teaching and diverse music-making opportunities for its learners’.
We are looking for someone to join the Wiltshire Music Service senior management team to support the strategic development of the service. You will line manage vocal and curriculum teachers in the service, including having responsibility for their performance management.
You will represent the Wiltshire Music Service on the steering group of the SWAG (Swindon Wiltshire and Gloucestershire) consortium for Sing Up and take a lead role in the development of singing and curriculum support projects for primary schools in Wiltshire. This job will combine a management role with regular teaching responsibilities.

You will be educated to degree level with Qualified Teacher Status, have an up to date knowledge of local and national initiatives in music with particular reference to singing, and a thorough knowledge and understanding of National Curriculum for Music. You will be able to articulate a clear vision of how vocal skills can be developed in all children, have an ability to think strategically and lead new initiatives and large scale events.
