Quality Instruments for Education booklet

The The Music Industries Association have published the print and download versions of their 24 page Quality Instruments for Education booklet with a number of specific aims:

  1. The guide is designed to help the musical student understand the importance of playing music, learning an instrument and to be able to have the appropriate knowledge to purchase a quality instrument.
  2. The booklet does not mention any brands and is, therefore, free of any “hard sell”.
  3. The guide deliberately covers a wide range of instrument types to hopefully cater for the majority of students.

  4. The booklet is designed to be of use to schools, teachers, parents, pupils (young and old).
  5. The brochure does not have a “sell-by” date on it. It should be able to be used for a number of years without needing to be changed or updated.
  6. The guide is not intended to be sold to people interested in music, it is a free publication.

Download it now from either the FMS or the MIA websites. Please help the MIA publicise the booklet on your own websites so teachers, pupils, parents and carers are aware of it. You can link to the FMS hosted version at the following URL: http://www.thefms.org/teachers-parents-children/parents-children/choosing-a-quality-instrument.

With the kind support of NAMM, The MIA’s sister Association in America, the MIA have been able to cover the main production costs for the brochure and can therefore sell hard copies at a price of 40 pence per copy (to covers the postage and packing etc).

Contact Paul McManus if you would like any copies.
